Keolumana United Methodist Church is a Christ-centered, family-oriented, faith community church in Enchanted Lakes, Kailua on the beautiful island of Oahu.
Keolumana United Methodist Church was organized in September 1965, and chartered December 12, 1965 when Hawaii was still a Mission District. For over 50 years Keolumana UMC has been a vibrant community church, reaching out to the Enchanted Lake area and beyond. As disciples of Christ who seek to make a transformation of the world, our church is dedicated to social justice (advocating for immigration, children, the shelterless, and the elderly), liturgical worship rooted in our Christian tradition and Scripture, and making a Keolumana UMC a fun creative safe and welcoming place for all. Our community is diverse with people from all walks of life and coming from all different backgrounds, cultures and ethnicities. We recognize our diversity and our open-mindedness while being founded in our core beliefs, as one of our strengths. If you are ever in the Enchanted Lake area and are looking for a home church, please fill out the contact form and give us a visit and our Pastor will be in contact with you.
About our Staff:
Pastor Joy Yun
My husband and I are originally from the East Coast! I grew up in NY and NJ my whole life, until 2008 when I married my husband Joseph Yun. We were called to Hawaii where we served the youth and children's ministries at Christ UMC in Makiki. I have since been serving the Hawaii District in various forms for over 11 years. Previously I was at Wesley UMC as a pastoral intern and children’s coordinator since 2016. I graduated seminary Claremont School of Theology in May 2019 and I was blessed to be commissioned as an Elder in the UMC this summer. Keolumana UMC is my very first appointment! My husband Rev. Joseph Yun was appointed to the Wesley Foundation at the University of Hawaii, in the summer of 2015 and they have both been serving in Honolulu for the past 5 years.
I love teaching the Bible to people of all ages, finding creativity in ministry, working with families, and my passion is to see people fall in love with God’s Word and grow in a deeper relationship with Jesus.
I have three very loud children Joey (10), Kaitlyn (8), and Audrey (5). Their hobbies include everything at the beach (ie. playing with sand, swimming, body boarding etc). My interests are Wesleyan theology, Liberation theology, church history, as well as United Methodist History. I love to eat and cook Korean food and I love to bake pies! It doesn't mean they always turn out right, but just like myself, its a work in progress and I enjoy the process. I look forward to meeting and getting to know you better despite these unusual circumstances!
Love in Christ,
Joy Yun
